Our School Values

Safe, Engage, Respect

Whitehouse PRU is a primary pupil referral unit in Hull, supporting pupils at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education. As an academy, we are dedicated to fostering a safe, engaging, and respectful environment that empowers our pupils to thrive.

Safe – At TheWhitehouse PRU, we prioritise the personal safety and well-being of our pupils. We achieve this through a strong focus on regulation, personal safety, and personal care. Our staff are trained to help pupils develop self-regulation strategies, ensuring they feel secure and supported throughout their time with us.

Engage – Engaging our pupils in their learning is a key pillar of our approach. We work tirelessly to create a curriculum and learning environment that captures their interests and ignites their curiosity. By fostering a sense of belonging and investment in their education, we empower our pupils to take an active role in their own progress.

Respect – Respect is the foundation of our school community. We nurture resilience, empathy, self-awareness, positivity, excellence, communication, and teamwork in our pupils. These core values guide our interactions and shape the culture of our school, ensuring that every member of the Whitehouse PRU family is valued and supported.

Through our unwavering commitment to these guiding principles, we strive to provide a transformative educational experience for our pupils. By upholding our vision of a “Safe, Engage, and Respect” environment, we equip our pupils with the skills and mindset they need to thrive, both within our walls and beyond.

Whitehouse PRU provides a safe and nurturing environment where pupils can re-engage with education and improve their life chances. The whole team collaborates around the child, working with families, mainstream schools and outside agencies.

Our aims – Together as inclusion experts we will:

  • Reignite children’s curiosity and love of learning with engaging opportunities to improve attitudes and attendance

  • Deliver bespoke support to promote personal development including self-regulation of behaviour, social skills and mental health

  • Identify additional needs to plan personalised support, while providing clear and consistent expectations and boundaries to teach appropriate behaviour
  • Prepare children for transition to their next educational setting, whether mainstream or special

  • Show children the value of local community so that they leave us caring and thoughtful citizens
